Abbi has been through plenty of grooming sessions in her time. She knows the routine—bath time, nail trims, and the occasional brushing to keep her coat looking good. But when we brought out a new brush to test, she had absolutely no idea what she was in for. At first, she wasn’t too concerned. She sat (somewhat patiently), expecting the usual light brushing before getting back to her regularly scheduled naps and snack breaks. But the moment that brush hit her coat, things took a turn.

Hair. So. Much. Hair.

It was like watching a magic trick unfold in real time. Every swipe of the brush pulled out mountains of fur. At first, Abbi seemed unbothered until she noticed what was happening. She glanced at the growing pile beside her, then back at herself, then back at the pile, as if to say, excuse me… is this all from ME?!

Her confusion quickly turned into mild panic. She started shifting around, looking over her shoulder like she was trying to catch the hair before it could escape. At one point, she even gave me a look that screamed, are you sure I’m not going bald?! But, of course, she wasn’t. If anything, she was just finally free of all that loose fur that had been hanging around. By the time we were done, Abbi looked lighter, fluffier, and definitely more comfortable. She stretched out with a big sigh clearly enjoying the fresh, clean feeling but she was definitely still eyeing that suspiciously large pile of fur on the floor. We, on the other hand, were left wondering how she wasn’t bald with the sheer amount that came off. Seriously, it looked like we had enough to build a whole other dog.

In the end, Abbi begrudgingly accepted that this new brush might not be completely evil. She still doesn’t fully trust it, but she does appreciate how good it feels once the brushing is done. One thing’s for sure—regular brushing just became a must in Abbi’s routine. Even if she’s still a little shook by how much fluff she has to spare.
