Abbi is usually ready for anything. Walks? Absolutely. Playtime? Always. A good, dramatic zoomie session? You bet. But when Texas decides to remind us that winter does exist—just in the most inconvenient and unpredictable way Abbi quickly realized she might not be built for this kind of struggle. The morning started out like any other. She stretched, wagged her tail, and trotted toward the door, ready to take on the day. And then… the cold hit. A gust of frigid Texas wind smacked her right in the face, and you could see the regret settle in instantly.

Still, she powered through. After all, business had to be handled. But the moment her paws touched the damp, icy grass, it was over. She froze, one paw slightly lifted, as if contemplating all the choices that had led her to this exact moment. A deep, dramatic sigh followed. But since going back inside without completing her mission wasn’t an option, she mustered up the courage to tiptoe her way across the yard, looking more like a dog walking on hot coals than one just dealing with a little frost. As soon as she finished, there was no time for the usual sniffing around or post-potty zoomies. Nope she was done. She turned tail and made a mad dash for the door, giving one last glare to the cold, wet betrayal that was the Texas winter. Once inside, Abbi wasted no time getting back to comfort. She flopped onto her bed, curled up into a tight little ball, and let out the biggest sigh of exhaustion. The battle had been fought, and it had taken everything out of her. She didn’t move for the rest of the day, except maybe to nudge in closer for some extra warmth.

And just like that, Abbi officially declared winter to be the worst. Here’s hoping the Texas sun gets its act together soon because wet, frozen grass is definitely not her thing.
