Julius, our beloved umbrella cockatoo, is not just a pretty face with snowy feathers—he's also quite mischievous. But dealing with his antics is all part of the joy of having him as a pet. Here's a tale of Julius getting into a bit of mischief and how we handle it.

One sunny afternoon, while Julius was happily perched on his play stand, I decided to rearrange some furniture in the living room. As I moved a chair across the room, Julius became fixated on the wheels, his curiosity piqued. Before I knew it, he hopped onto the chair and began investigating, his beak clacking with excitement. At first, I found his curiosity endearing. But then Julius discovered the joy of rolling around on the chair's wheels. He started spinning in circles, feathers fluffed in delight. I couldn't help but laugh at his antics, but I also knew I needed to intervene before things got out of hand.
I gently tried to coax Julius off the chair, but he was having too much fun to listen. Instead, he let out a squawk of protest and continued his wheel-rolling adventure. It was clear that Julius wasn't going to budge without a little persuasion. With a sigh, I realized it was time to employ a distraction tactic. I reached for one of Julius' favorite toys—a colorful puzzle ball—and waved it enticingly in front of him. Julius, always eager for new toys, immediately hopped off the chair and bounded over to investigate.

As Julius became engrossed in his new toy, I quickly moved the chair out of his reach. Crisis averted—or so I thought. Little did I know, Julius had his sights set on a new target: my shoelaces. Before I could react, Julius had swooped down and grabbed one of my shoelaces in his beak. He began tugging and pulling with all his might, clearly intent on unraveling the entire lace. I tried to gently coax him away, but he was determined to have his fun. In the end, I had to resort to gently prying the shoelace from Julius' grasp and distracting him with another toy. He protested with a few indignant squawks, but eventually, he relented and moved on to his next adventure.

Dealing with Julius' mischief can be challenging at times, but it's also part of what makes him so endearing. His playful antics remind me to appreciate the joy and spontaneity that comes with having a pet like him.
